The Sonoma County coroner's office has identified the driver who was killed in a crash Monday night as 23-year-old Troy Bowen of Monte Rio.
Bowen was driving a 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT west on Guerneville Road between Frei and Olivet roads west of Santa Rosa around 6:45 p.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Kimberly Lemons said.
Two witnesses said the Mitsubishi driver was speeding and driving recklessly, Lemons said. As Bowen tried to pass a vehicle over double yellow lines, he lost control of the car, crossed into the eastbound lanes and collided with a 2011 Ford Flex, Lemons said.
Bowen was pronounced dead at 7:09 p.m., according to the coroner's office.
The driver of the Ford, a 27-year-old woman from Santa Rosa, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, Lemons said.
A 13-year-old Sebastopol girl in her car suffered minor to moderate injuries and was taken to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Santa Rosa, Lemons said.
All three occupants of the vehicles were wearing seat belts, according to Lemons.
She said investigators do not know if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
Guerneville Road was closed until about 9 p.m. because of the crash, she said.
