A man detained for a mental health evaluation and a sheriff's deputy have been hospitalized after being exposed to an unidentified hazardous substance that prompted the closure of a roadway in Windsor Wednesday morning, a Windsor Fire Protection District spokeswoman said.

Fire crews were called to Faught Road near East Shiloh Road, in the area of Shiloh Ranch Regional Park, around 5:20 a.m. to assist the sheriff's office with an involuntary psychiatric hold on a man in a car, fire spokeswoman Cindy Foreman said.
