Napa Man Critical After Horrible Crash Into Fence in Petaluma Sunday Night

A Napa man was critically injured Sunday evening in a crash in unincorporated Petaluma, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers responded at 6:45 p.m. to the crash on Lakeville Highway just south of Cannon Lane and found an Acura had crashed into a fence.

Officers said the driver, identified as Jesus Castillo-Sanchez, 22, drove off the road, down an embankment and went airborne before crashing into a wooden fence in a ditch.

The car traveled back up the embankment, across the road and ended up in a grass field. Officers said boards from the fence went through the windshield and impaled Castillo-Sanchez's head.

Castillo-Sanchez, the only occupant of the vehicle, was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

CHP officials said Castillo-Sanchez did not have a driver's license and investigators are looking into whether alcohol played a factor in the crash.
