Police lose juvenile suspect in foot chase.

A male youth tried to burglarize a home in the Healdsburg neighborhood of Parkland Farms Saturday, but was ousted by the alert homeowner, police said.

The suspect, a juvenile, fled from police on foot and escaped into the nearby brush, said Healdsburg Lt. Kevin Young.

"This is not related to the Young said. "It's a single juvenile person -- the description doesn't match at all."

Last month, police reported a rash of daytime burglaries in Parkland Farms. Witnesses reported seeing a group of men in a vehicle circlling in the neighborhood during the times that those burgaries occurred.

Young said police have not yet identified suspects in those cases, but that witnesses described the men in the vehicle as older males.

"The description of them is that they were adults," Young said.

Saturday's incident was reported at 7:45 a.m., when a homeowner on Spur Ridge Lane called police to report an intruder in his home, Young said.

The homeowner told police he had heard some noise and, upon investigation, discovered that a youth had entered his home through the back of the house. It was not immediately clear whether a door or window were unlocked, or how the youth was able to obtain entry.

The homeowner told the boy to get out, and then called police.

When Healdsburg Sgt. John Haviland arrived, he spotted the juvenile escapting from the house, according to Young. Haviland gave chase on foot, but the youth disappeared into the adjacent brush along a fire trail, Young said.

Nothing was taken in the burglary attempt, Young added.

"He was interrupted before he could take anything," Young said of the youth.

Haviland was able to get a glimpse of the youth during the foot chase, but police are still investigating the incident, Young said.

"We're working on an ID right now," he said.
