New Sections of Highway 101 Through Rohnert Park to Open Soon, CHP Says

Traffic flow will be shifting starting Friday.

Starting this Friday, July 22, commuters in Sonoma County will see a big difference in the traffic pattern on Highway 101 as it passes over Wilfred Avenue.

Caltrans will begin to shift northbound 101 traffic onto the newly built structure on the east side of the highway. By Saturday morning, all northbound traffic will be traveling on the new structure.

Sometime during the week of July 25, southbound traffic will also be shifted onto the new structure. The Santa Rosa Avenue on-ramp will also be reopened at that time.

On Aug. 1, the portion of Commerce Boulevard that runs beneath the highway will be closed for 12 days. The closure will enable construction crews to safely demolish the remainder of the old structure.
