Police Arrest Attempted Murder Suspect in Domestic Violence Case

Authorities on Monday arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with a domestic violence case in Santa Rosa.

At approximately 10:15 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the Santa Rosa Police Department where a victim of Domestic Violence was standing by in the lobby to make a report that her boyfriend had hurt her. 

Upon arrival deputies contacted the victim and found that on Sunday at approximately 7:00 p.m., the victim had been strangled several times and threatened with a hatchet. The victim related that the crime occurred in Forestville. The victim was taken to Kaiser Hospital via ambulance at the request of the on scene deputy. The victim was medically cleared after being treated by medical personnel. 

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Unit were called out for follow up investigation. The detectives and deputies were able to locate the suspect at his place of employment, where he was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was identified as Shawn Morgan, 20 years old from Lake Stevens, Washington. 

Morgan was ultimately booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of Attempted Murder and Felony Domestic Battery without bail.
