San Quentin Inmate Falls Four Stories to His Death

Investigators are looking into the circumstances surrounding a four-story fall that led to the death of a San Quentin State Prison inmate on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Marin County Sheriff's Office.

At about 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, 60-year-old Thomas Henderson, an inmate in the custody of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation housed at San Quentin State Prison, arrived at Marin General Hospital with traumatic injuries suffered in a fall from the fourth tier of a cellblock, deputies said.

Henderson was pronounced dead at Marin General Hospital at 12:53 p.m. on Wednesday, according to deputies.

Based on the preliminary investigation, the fall from the fourth-tier cellblock is believed to have been intentional, deputies said.

A forensic exam is scheduled for Friday, according to deputies.
