Sonoma County Man Found Dead Was Former CHP Officer

Cloverdale man, 55, was found dead near Asti on Monday.

The Sonoma County coroner's office has identified a man found dead
in Asti on Monday afternoon as 55-year-old George Martin Feeney, of Cloverdale.

A passerby found Feeney around 2 p.m. on the ground near the
intersection of Asti and Washington School roads in northwestern Sonoma County, California Highway Patrol Officer Jon Sloat said.

Sloat said a bicycle was found near Feeney's body, and it appears he suffered a medical emergency.

"There was no sign of a collision, no injuries and no damage to the bike," Sloat said.

The coroner's office pronounced Feeney dead at 2:08 p.m.

Sloat said Feeney was a CHP officer in Marin County and retired in
the early 1990s.
