Suspected Drunk Driver Allegedly Hits Parked Patrol Car

The crash happened near Santa Rosa.

A 23-year-old Santa Rosa man crashed into a parked Sonoma County Sheriff's Patrol car early this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

David Santos Romanwood was driving a 2008 Ford Focus north on Brooks Avenue near Santa Rosa, when he approached the scene of an emergency at about 12:30 a.m., the CHP said.

Sheriff's deputies were parked on both sides of the roadway, the CHP said.

Romanwood allegedly veered left and crashed head-on into a parked sheriff's vehicle with its headlights on, the CHP said.

No one was injured.

Deputies at the scene said Romanwood exhibited signs of alcohol intoxication, and he was arrested at the scene.

Romanwood was booked for drunken driving at Sonoma County Jail.
