Based on the initial investigation, officers believe the woman had been in an argument inside the vehicle with her husband, who was the driver of the vehicle.

The husband pulled over to the curb to let the woman out. After she got out of the vehicle, the husband pulled forward. Just prior to pulling forward, the woman may have fell to the ground and was subsequently run over by the vehicle, police said.

An investigation into the incident is under way to determine if the victim fell under the vehicle accidentally, or was struck  intentionally prior to falling.

The case is being investigated by the Windsor Police Traffic Investigators, and the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Unit.

Anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident, and who may have information on what occurred is asked to call the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office Investigations Bureau at 707-565-2185.
