The Sonoma County coroner's office has identified a woman who was killed in a crash near Rohnert Park on Wednesday morning as 76-year-old Ann Josephine Lynch, of Sebastopol.

A 1-foot by 6-foot piece of wood that was part of the fence pierced the windshield of the woman's Toyota Camry, striking her in the head, CHP Sgt. Allan Capurro said.

The woman was driving west on Millbrae Avenue near Primrose Avenue at about 30 mph when the crash happened around 10:45 a.m., Capurro said.

Her car drifted to the right, and when she overcorrected and turned to the left, the Camry veered out of control across the road's
eastbound lane, Capurro said.

The car crossed a drainage ditch and hit the wire-and-wood fence,
which was south of the roadway, Capurro said.

The woman, who was alone in the car, was pronounced dead at the
scene.

The Sonoma County coroner's office was still trying to notify her next of kin this afternoon, and has not released her name.

The accident closed the road until 1:12 p.m.
