Young Woman Sought in String of Healdsburg Home Burglaries

The Healdsburg Police Department today announced that they are looking for a suspect in at least four residential burglaries that have taken place in the last week.

Two of the burglaries were reported yesterday, June 24, in the midday hours between 10:30 a.m. and 4:00p.m. The suspect gained entry by cutting window screens and entering through the window of separate residences on North and Piper Streets.

In these cases, according to Sgt. John Haviland of the HPD, witnesses reported seeing a white female in her 20s or 30s, approximately 5’4” – 5’6”, 130 pounds. The female reportedly approached a neighbor’s house and knocked on the door. When the neighbor answered, the female apologized and said she must have the wrong house.

Two similar burglaries occurred on Tuesday, June 18, again in the midday hours between 11 a.m. and 2:25 p.m. The later burglary was reported as happening within the previous half hour, when someone broke into a residence in the 300 block of Plaza St by cutting window screens and entering through the window.

The other incident on that date, at 11 in the morning, was not reported to police until Sunday, June 23, when a woman reported that someone had broken into her house in the same area on Fitch Street on June 18 and stolen loose change.

Last week, the police log reported a computer stolen late in the night of June 16 from a room at the Camellia Inn, in the 300 block of North Street (approximately the same neighborhood), with entry again achieved through a broken window. It is not known if this or several other burglaries in Healdsburg over the past couple weeks are related, as the modus operandi may differ somewhat.

The Healdsburg Police Department is requesting that residents contact the Police Department with any similar suspicious activity; call 431-3377.
