Bike-friendly Certified? You Bet, Says Healdsburg

Cycling star Levi Leipheimer to keynote Oct. 25 "News at Noon."

said she and other city cycling fans want to get Healdsburg official certification as a top bike-friendly town.

"We have a small group of interested and passionate people who want this to happen," McElroy told Healdsburg City Council on Monday.

She invited the public and council members to the Chamber's "News at Noon" luncheon Tuesday, Oct. 25 at noon at Pro cyclist Levi Leipheimer is guest speaker, she said.

Mayor Tom Chambers said it was a natural for Healdsburg.

"When you talk about economic vitality, we're known for wine and we're known for biking," he said. "Why shouldn't we make it official?"

McElroy said details of the "News at Noon" were:

Program: An interactive event with champion pro-cyclist Levi Leipheimer: Podium winner of the Tour de France, creator of Levi's Gran Fondo, three-time champion of the Amgen Tour of California, winner of the Tour of Utah and US Pro Cycling Challenge and....a really cool guy.

Location: Villa Chanticleer
Time: 12 – 1:30 p.m.
Cost:  $35 member/ $45 non-members
