Healdsburg Police Seek Volunteers

is currently recruiting volunteers for our new Volunteers in Policing Program (VIP).

The purpose of the volunteer program is to provide support for non-enforcement services throughout the department. With your help we are able to provide a higher level of service to the community.

The VIP program is an excellent opportunity to become involved with your police department and to make a meaningful difference in your community.

Successful applicants will be trained to perform a wide variety of tasks including; parking enforcement, traffic control, graffiti watch, speed trailer deployment, vacation house checks, police dept. tours for kids, assisting with community events (parades, school safety fairs etc.), assisting administrative staff with special projects, and general crime prevention patrol.

Ideally, volunteers will have assignments matching their areas of interest and for which the police department has a need.

This is a volunteer/unpaid position. Applicants must be over 18 years of age with a valid California driver’s license and are expected to commit to a set minimum amount of hours per week in order to remain in the volunteer program.

Volunteer applicants must meet several requirements in order to be considered for an available position. These requirements include a criminal history check, personal interview and fingerprint check.

Due to the sensitivity and confidential nature of the police department, the selection process for volunteers is designed to find those individuals whose honesty and integrity are of the highest standards.

Applicants living in the local Healdsburg area will be given preference in the screening/hiring process
