Healdsburg to Join Pension Costs Study at Stanford

Former Assemblyman Joe Nation invited city to be part of analysis.

After last Thursday's at Healdsburg City Hall, council members on Monday night said they would join a Stanford University study on pension reform.

Council voted unanimously Monday to leader of the study and a speaker at last week's workshop.

"There's no cost to the city, either to get the results or the documents," said Healdsburg City Councilman Jim Wood. "He might need some information from the staff, but that would only likely be the PERS [public employees retirement system] report."

Wood said he "looked at it as an opportunity to gather more information," he said. "We can withdraw at any time."

Mayor Tom Chambers said Healdsburg would be the only small city in the study and "other cities of similar size might benefit from our experience," he said.
