Memorial Bridge listed in National Register of Historic Places

Application approved within past week, says David Dietz of the Healdsburg area Memorial Bridge preservation committee.

has just been listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

According to an April 22 memo from Edson Beall of the director's offfice of the National Park Service, the much beloved bridge is listed as follows in the new register:

CALIFORNIA, SONOMA COUNTY, ,  Healdsburg Ave, junction of Front St, Healdsburg,  11000214, LISTED, 4/14/11 (Highway Bridges of California MPS).

David Dietz, a member of the local Memorial Bridge preservation committee founded by , said he drafted the application for the national register and sent it in.

Since t to save and renovate Memorial Bridge, it is becoming more and more of a community focus. Two new near the bridge this spring and summer -- the, and a July 23 river festival.
