North County Day of Service to Honor 9/11 Set for Sept. 8

Second annual event will be at Riverfront Regional Park near Windsor.

Sonoma County Supervisor Mike McGuire and community volunteers will join together Saturday, Sept. 8, to lead a clean-up project at Riverfront Regional Park in honor of the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

volunteers will be planting trees, performing maintenance on park trails, providing brush and invasive species removal and completing some small scale construction projects throughout the park.

Supervisor McGuire’s office is teaming up with Sonoma County Regional Parks to coordinate the event.

8:00 am: Morning Rally, Volunteer Orientation & FREE Morning goodies/coffee

8:30 am: Park improvement projects kick off

11:30 am: FREE BBQ Lunch for all volunteers

Dress Code:        

Volunteers should dress for doing outdoor landscaping work and bring sunscreen.  Hats are and sturdy shoes are recommended.

Participating groups include: Dozens of community volunteers from across the North County, Sonoma County Regional Parks and the Sonoma County Youth Ecology Corps

All volunteers will be provided donated free continental breakfast and BBQ lunch with all of the fixings, a Regional Parks Water Bottle and, most importantly, the opportunity to get involved and help improve Riverfront Regional Park.
