“We have two objectives,” stated Occupy activist Karl Hilgert. “First, we want to educate people about the horrific damage that the big banks have done to America, which includes us in Sonoma County.

"In fact, by keeping their accounts in these banks, people are enabling those immoral policies," Hilgert said.  “So the second thing we are proposing is that Healdsburg residents switch their accounts to local banking institutions.”

Occupier Kathryn Cerasoli agreed.

“We are fortunate to have four financial institutions here in Healdsburg that are headquartered in Sonoma County: , and Redwood Credit Union," Cerasoli said. "The money we invest in them is then re-invested right here in our own local economy; that’s a terrific benefit for those who live and work in our own struggling county!"

Cerasoli added that switching to a local bank "is a kick at the criminal national banks and an economic boost for our owncounty and the city of Healdsburg, both at the same time," she said. "What could be better than that?”
