Laugh it up for a good cause!

Sometimes doing something good for you is great for others too. In this case, the "others" are the pups living temporarily at Green Dog Rescue Project. And the "something good" is going to the comedy show "Funny Bones" at the Raven on Saturday, August 3 (8pm). It's starring Monique Marvez, who has her own Showtime Special, "Not Skinny, Not Blonde."

Check Monique out here:

She's abetted by Regina Stoops, a comedian from the town "Normal," whose life with a partner and three young sons is anything but.

Your ticket ($75) includes a pre-show gathering at Portalupi's tasting room next door to the Raven. Not sure how they'll fit the show's crowd into their delightful but small tasting room, but I'm willing to give it a go because their wines are yummy, the appetizers (by Agave) will be too, and Portalupi's a fun party spot.

All of this is to support the Green Dog Rescue Project, which is doing some wonderful things with the dogs in their care, including several that used to live at the now-defunct Healdsburg Animal Shelter. Even several of the former Hbg shelter volunteers now work with Green Dog, so GDRP is obviously impressing folks. The dogs get training and live in a more natural group setting, which relieves their stress until they find their permanent homes. Who wouldn't want to support the folks making these pups' lives better?

Although the comedians say their material will be fairly family-friendly, you've got to be age 18+ to get in to the show. Get your tickets at Options, Portalupi, or Copperfield's in Hbg, or online here https://www.vendini.com/ticket-software.html?w=936f1173f79f74c3d14fa9032ea3485d&t=tixhttp://

See you at the Raven!
