Special ed seminar Monday on legal responsibilities

Speakers include Carl Corbin, special education attorney, and Diane Ashton, Healdsburg Unified School District special education director.

Parents, caregivers and educators of special education children are invited to a presentation Monday, Feb. 28, on their legal responsibilities.

The event will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the library, 315 Grant St.

Speakers will include Carl Corbin, special education attorney, and Diane Ashton, Healdsburg Unified School District special education director.

"As a parent of a child with special needs, cooperation and support of all parties at the school is so important for educational success," said Barbara Tuscany,
Healdsburg Special Education Parents Group program chairperson.

Tuscany said parents will be given time at the event to ask questions, meet other parents of special needs children and will be able to greet Ashton, who is new to the district.
