Healdsburg's Night with the Giants. Monday, April 22, 2013 - Healdsburg's Night with the Giants at AT&T Park vs. Arizona Diamondbacks. Watch the Giants battle the Snakes while supporting our Healdsburg student athletes. The SF Giants will donate up to 1/2 of the $25 ticket price back to the HHS Boosters. The HHS Band will be on the field to play the National Anthem. If you purchase tickets from a music student, the donation will go to the music department. To order game tickets, please send an order form available in the school office or go to www.healdsburghighboosters.org to order online. Call Richard Bugarske at 433-1771 for more information, deadline is Thursday, April 18, 2013. This has been a sold-out event in the past, so get your tickets now!

Mountain Bike Team- Pleasehelp support your HHS Greyhounds Mountain Bike Team by attending a benefit screening of "Single Track High, a film about Kids Who Ride". The film will be shown Thursday April 25th at 7 p.m. at the Raven Film Center. Tickets are available for $15 and can be purchased online at www.singletrackhealdsburg.eventbrite.com. **Earn extra credit from your PE teacher for attending! There will also be a free ride at 4pm starting at Spoke Folk for those that want to ride with the filmmakers! We hope to see you there.

Senior Parents: The Class of 2013 will be having their Senior Activity Day on Friday, April 26th. They have elected to spend their day "Cruising the Bay" with Alcatraz Excursions. The theme for the day is "Casino." The seniors will be playing casino games as well as board games. The Seniors need your help to make this day a successful and memorable Senior Day:

1. Board games or party games like "Catch Phrase," "Uno Attack," "Limbo," "Bingo." If you have any board games or party games you would like to offer, please let us know.

2. We have secured Nintendo Wii with the Dance Revolution game on it. We are in need of speakers to use with a Wii System.

Senior Parents Reminder: Community Service hours are due by May 1st. 40 hours of Community Service is a requirement in order to graduate. Turn in log sheets to the Counseling Dept.

Parents of Freshman, Sophomores, & Juniors: We need your help for Graduation Celebration! This event is a safe and sober celebration for the 2013 HHS graduating class at Driven Raceway in Rohnert Park on Friday, May 31. Pay it forward, so that when your student is graduating, you can relax and know they are safe. Please email Deanna DeBaeke at ccd08did@Comcast.netto volunteer for one of the positions listed. This is a really fun night and you will be so glad you helped out!

Counselors Corner

We have newsletters for juniors and seniors. You can read about college acceptances for seniors, coping with rejection letters, financial aid letters and how to read them, information from the UC's and SRJC. Juniors can read about colleges that cost less, test driving a college and more. Please go to the Counseling web page and click on newsletters. Have a great holiday.

There is a brand new scholarship for seniors who participated in Little League for a minimum of 4 years. The Dave Miller Fair Play award is for $1000 and applications are available on the table outside the Career Center. The due date is April 22.

Career Center

The Career Center is looking for a parent/s willing to pick up plants on Home Depot on Friday, May 17th, held over the weekend and delivered to Smith Robinson Gym Monday morning, May 20th for Scholarship Night. They need to be returned on May 21sthowever, this could be the same or a different volunteer. If able and willing, please call Laurie Nimmo at 431-3473.

School Accountability Report Cards- The SARC's for the 11/12 school year are now available on line. Paper copies are also available in each of our school offices. These reports are required annually by the state of California. They are designed to provide the public with important information about each of our schools and to communicate each school's progress towards achieving its goals. The SARC's mainly focus on information from the prior school year. They are posted on the District's website at http://www.husd.com/Overview. If you have any questions or would like further information, please contact the principal of your child's school.

STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS (a sample of the announcements made at the High School)

Earth Day News: Don't use toxic pesticides. Farmers lose the same percentage of crops to pests as thirty years ago. Crops imbued with pesticides; like Roundup Ready, increase the amount of pesticides in use. Over 100 of these pesticides are suspected to cause birth defects, cancer, and gene mutations. Learn more about what you are not told in the news by listening to Dr. Andy Lee Roth from Project Censored; America's leading investigative journalists, at Earth Day this Saturday in the Plaza from 11 - 5.

Did you know that next Monday night is Healdsburg Night at the Giants? If you want to see the Giants play the Arizona Diamondbacks, with our Band playing the National Anthem, see Mr. Masselink for a ticket, just $25!

Graduation announcements are here. If you placed an order, you can pick them up in the Student Store.

Prom is April 27th. Tickets will be on sale this week.

If you are going to run for ASB or Class offices, you must sign up for candidate pre-interviews in the main office by Friday, April 19th. Students who run for offices will be eligible to be in the Leadership Class next year even if they do not win the election.

The Bloodmobile will be here on April 30th. If you would like to donate, please sign up in the main office.

Food Court Day is on May 3rd. Be sure to plan ahead and enjoy all of the food provided by our clubs.

There are new job and volunteer opportunities posted on the bulletin board in counseling. Seniors, this is a great way to complete your required community service hours for graduation. Stop by to check them out.

The Career Center will closed in the morning on Monday, 4/22.

SENIORS

Senior Activity, Freedom Day, is April 25th at the Villa. Please go directly there in the morning. Role will be taken at the Villa. Remember - seniors are required to attend each senior activity or report to school each day.

This is a reminder about the Senior Cruise on April 26th. Please make sure you dress for cold weather. If you are not going on the cruise, you have to be at school or you will not go to Prom. Please arrive at school at 7:45am.

Hey Seniors, Prom's right around the corner. Sign up for Prom royalty in the student store this week! $1 per nomination. You need to have the candidate's consent before signing them up.

SOPHOMORES/JUNIORS

SRJC is once again offering the sustainable agriculture summer academy designed to introduce high school students to sustainable agriculture and natural resource stewardship through lecture, field activities, and hands-on projects. You will earn 3 college credits if selected. Please come see your counselor for more information.

CLUBS

Progressive Club meets Thursday's at lunch in room 4.

Safe School Ambassadors: There will be a meeting on Friday during lunch in the large conference room. Lunch will be provided.
