From Bay City News Service and other sources
San Francisco Giants pitcher Chad Gaudin was arrested on suspicion of "open and gross" lewdness in Las Vegas in January, police said today.
On Jan. 27, officers responded to an area hospital on a report of a disturbance and arrested Gaudin, Las Vegas Metropolitan police spokesman Officer Jose Hernandez said. Hernandez said Gaudin was arrested as a result of several witness statements, but he could not confirm the details of what allegedly happened.
According to a report in the Las Vegas Review-Journal earlier today, Gaudin was arrested for groping a 23-year old woman who was lying on a hospital gurney at Desert Springs Hospital.
Gaudin, 30, posted $2,000 bail following his arrest and was released, court records show. He has since been charged with misdemeanor "open and gross" lewdness. The case is expected to return to Las Vegas Township Justice Court on July 23 for a status report, according to court records.
A Giants team spokeswoman was not immediately available to comment on the case, nor was Gaudin's attorney, Gabriel Blumberg.
Gaudin is 2-1 with a 2.44 ERA in 59 innings for the Giants this season.
