Wetzel Native Plant Garden ceremony is 10 a.m.

A grand opening and dedication for the Harry and Maggie Wetzel Native Plant Garden will be held Saturday, May 26 at 10 a.m. along Foss Creek at 3 North St. in Healdsburg.

"We hope every one of the over 350 Foss Creek volunteers can attend to see the garden Saturday and help us toast all the hard work you did to make this project a reality," said Russian Riverkeeper Don McEnhill, one of the project organizers.

McEnhill said the Wetzel Garden is the culmination of three years of effort by Foss Creek Community Restoration Project volunteers and Russian Riverkeeper staff to create a native plant resource for gardeners and enhance habitat for local wildlife.

Sonoma County Supervisor Mike McGuire, Healdsburg Mayor Gary Plass and the Wetzel Family are expected to attend the dedication.
