Healdsburg Girl Scouts to Start Christmas Tree Recycling Early

Due to a high demand on early pick ups the Girl Scout Troop is now available to pick up Christmas trees Jan. 1 and Jan. 2.

Wondering what the next big step in the season is? Well, there's Boxer Day of course, and New Year's Eve. But after that it's time to take down the tree and move on with the new year.

So Healdsburg Girl Scout Troop 389, which already offered Christmas tree pick-up and recycling starting January 7, has added pick-up dates for Jan 1 and Jan. 2, 2012.

Troop leader Teresa Ramirez said the cost is $5 for trees less than 5 feet high and $10 for larger trees. Pickups will be Jan. 1 or 2, 7 or 8, and Jan. 14 or 15.

Instructions:  Call or e-mail for a pick up.  Leave your name, phone number, street address and the date you want the tree picked up.  Leave tree at the curb on the day of pick up by 9:00 AM.  Make checks payable to GSNC.  If you won't be home, please leave the donation under your front door mat.

Sorry, no flocked trees or tinsel

Thank you for supporting Healdsburg Girl Scout Troop 10389.

What a great service. I won't be using it since I have an artificial tree, but the day after Christmas there was already a tree laying in the gutter across the street from my house! I hope those folks take advantage of the Girl Scouts' service and in doing so not only get rid of an eyesore, but help to support a very worthwhile organization. Happy New Year!!
