Heat Wave Bringing 100° to Healdsburg

Weather.com projects 100° on Saturday in Healdsburg, dropping to a balmy 88° on Sunday. Whew.

By Bay City News Service

The hottest temperatures so far this year will arrive in the Bay Area this weekend, a National Weather Service forecaster said today.

The temperatures will rise Thursday and Friday, but the hottest day is expected to be Saturday, National Weather Service forecaster Ryan Walbrun said.

The inland valleys in the North and East bays, including areas near Santa Rosa including Sonoma, can expect to see the warmest temperatures in the region, projected to reach well into the 90s and quite possibly up to the 100s on Friday and Saturday, Walbrun said.

Nonetheless, said Walbrun, many cities will be about 10 degrees short of their record highs.

Weather.com projects a high for Friday of 98° for Healdsburg, reaching 100° on Saturday, then dropping on Sunday to just 88°.

That makes if a good weekend to hang out by the Russian River, or picnicking in the shade. The National Weather Service advises people to stay hydrated, wear light clothing and avoid strenuous activities outdoors during peak hours.

The North Bay hills in Napa and Sonoma counties will be dry Friday and Saturday evenings, which may pose a threat for fires, according to Walbrun.
