Volunteers and Supplies Needed for Community Canning Event

The finished product will be donated to the Healdsburg Food Pantry.

Volunteers will come together Oct. 13 to give the Healdsburg Food Pantry a fresh supply of homemade tomato sauce.

The event, organized by Farm to Pantry and the Healdsburg Soroptimists, still needs volunteers, tomatoes and new, quart-sized jars.

Volunteers will can in two shifts–9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and noon to 4 p.m.–on Oct. 13 at The Villa Annex Kitchen at Villa Chanticleer, 1248 N. Fitch Mountain Road. A canning expert will be on hand to help, and volunteers will share a potluck lunch between the two shifts, according to a press release.

Those who can't attend but still want to help can drop off jars or tomatoes from 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 11 or 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Healdsburg Food Pantry, 1505 Healdsburg Ave.

"Volunteers are needed the day before the event to transport tomatoes, jars and neighbors to the Villa Annex Kitchen," organizers said in a press release. "All volunteers should RSVP in advance to Melita Love at 707-431-0425 or melita@farmtopantry.org."
