Another Parking Lot Ambush - Man Shot In Coddingtown Mall Lot Monday Night

Carload of attackers sought in this case. A carload of attackers also are sought in the Friday Healdsburg stabbing in the Vineyard parking lot.

Santa Rosa police are investigating a shooting that injured a teenager near the Coddingtown Mall on Monday night, a police sergeant said.

The 18-year-old victim said he was walking alone in the 2000 block of Range Avenue in Santa Rosa around 7:30 p.m. when a car stopped and several occupants got out, Sgt. Lisa Banayat said.

One of the vehicle's occupants shot the man in the upper leg and the suspects fled in a late 1990s to early 2000s black 4-door Nissan, Banayat said.

On Friday afternoon in Healdsburg, a 19-year-old man was stabbed as he walked through the Vineyard Shopping Center parking lot. Witnesses told police a car carrying Hispanic men drove up, attacked the man and drove off. Story here.

There are no official reports the cases are related.

In the Monday incident in Santa Rosa, the shooting victim called for a ride home and once his ride arrived he was taken to a hospital where police interviewed him around 8:30 p.m.

The suspects are still at large and it is unknown if the shooting is gang related, Banayat said.

Healdsburg police did not release a vehicle description for the Vineyard case, said they did suspect their case is gang-related, and ask anyone with information to call the department at (707) 431-3377.
